Minister Chen Deming Meets with Turkish State Minister in Beijing

Minister Chen Deming met with visiting Turkish State Minister Zafer Caglayan in Beijing on August 31.

Chen Deming expressed his welcome to visiting Zafer Caglayan who was going to lead Turkish entrepreneurs and the media to attend Urumchi Investment and Trade Fair. Chen Deming said that China-Turkey trade and economic cooperation developed smoothly in recent years. Bilateral trade increased from USD1.4 billion in 2002 to USD12.6 billion in 2008. China attached importance to China-Turkey trade and economic relations and hoped to make joint efforts with Turkey to maintain such a good relations, strengthen development planning, promote a balanced development in bilateral trade, properly handle trade frictions and further expand and deepen bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

Zafer Caglayan said that Turkey-China trade and economic relations is very important, China is an important trading partner to Turkey. Turkey is sincere in developing bilateral trade and economic cooperation and would like to further strengthen cooperation with China to promote steady development of bilateral trade and economic relation, and welcome Chinese entrepreneurs to expand investment and trade in Turkey.

The two sides also exchanged views on a series of specific issues in China-Turkey trade and economic relations.
